Greece!
In the past, work trips have generally taken me to remote freezing landscapes in Wyoming, so Greece is a pleasant change (but don't get me wrong, I love freezing landscapes in Wyoming too). Luckily, the work was balanced out with plenty of cappuccinos, Greek salads, and archaeological sightseeing.
The work portion of the trip took place in Patras, which is the third largest city in Greece, but worlds smaller than Athens. It had lots of character and was sandwiched beautifully between the mountains and the sea. I loved it. Basically the Tacoma of Greece. Also notable was the proliferation of graffiti, often with a bit of an antifascist vibe, which one can always appreciate.
I spent the last few days of the trip wandering solo around Athens. Lots to see and already lots of tourists even in April, but it's a big city, and the metro can get you far from the throngs if you wish. Anyways, no surprise that Greece is super cool. I hope I'll be back.
