Up the Hoh
Last backpacking trip of the year (two months ago now 😬)! And a long awaited one too. We'd put together an itinerary for a backpacking trip with Catelynn's dad last year, but were tragically foiled by an ill timed COVID infection. This year, things went more according to plan, and we were even able to recruit Ellessa (Catelynn's sister) as well. First time in the Hoh Rainforest for all of us!

The team sets out!

We were welcomed to camp by a friendly ungulate greeting committee.

Camp from across the Hoh.

Second day on the Hoh was a beauty. The team did some exploring upriver.

More trees and stuff from the explorations.

The only disturbance to my tranquility; most of the maple leaves were dying back before they could turn their normal bright yellow of fall. Seemingly not as resilient to drought as their more inland counterparts...

Rain rolled in on our last night, so we finally had some proper rainforest drear during the hike out.
